Description
Model 1940 M40 Single Decal helmet utilized by the Luftwaffe German Air Force. The M40 shell is characterized by its slightly simplified design compared to the M35, featuring pressed ventilation holes rather than separate grommets, and retains its original field gray-blue paint, showing appropriate scuffs and wear consistent with frontline service. Crucially, the helmet retains a well-preserved example of the Luftwaffe Decal , featuring the gold-colored flying eagle clutching a swastika, which is highly sought after by collectors. The interior of the helmet contains the original leather liner, which is in good, used condition, perforated for ventilation, and supported by a metal liner band. The liner is fitted with its original leather chinstrap, all showing a consistent, honest patina of period use. The M40 Luftwaffe helmet is a classic and recognizable piece of German WWII headgear.
