Description
Presented here is an original WWII U.S. Army Air Corps folding survival knife, as issued to American airmen for use in emergency and survival situations. These knives were designed for compact utility and featured in life raft and bailout kits carried by downed aviators.This example features a sturdy steel blade with its original contour, folding securely into the checkered aluminum or composite handle (depending on model). The handle remains in very good condition with light wear consistent with service use. The blade is clearly stamped with manufacturer markings and U.S. military designation, where visible.Often issued as part of aircrew survival gear, these knives were used to cut parachute lines, fabricate shelter, or prepare food while awaiting rescue. This piece offers excellent display and research value and is a genuine artifact of WWII Army Air Forces survival equipment.A hard-to-find and historically important item for any collection of WWII aviation or military survival gear.
