Description
This is a superb, high-quality reproduction of the rare pre-World War II United States Navy Type M-422 Intermediate Flight Jacket, produced by the legendary Willis & Geiger Inc. As one of the original wartime contractors, Willis & Geiger produced a limited -Heritage- line of flight jackets in later years that are renowned for their exacting attention to historical detail and superior craftsmanship.
This jacket is a faithful tribute to the original N156s-16957 contract, replicating the specific features that distinguish the early M-422 from the later M-422A and G-1 models. Most notably, it features the historically correct silver -USN- stencil applied to the back of the collar, a detail specific to the pre-war design. Constructed from premium dark brown goatskin leather, the jacket features a genuine mouton fur collar, a salmon-colored rayon lining, and the correct single-ply bi-swing back. Unlike fragile originals, this jacket is in excellent, wearable condition with pristine wool knits and supple leather. Marked a Size 48, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a jacket with the look and feel of the -Flying Tigers- era that can be worn comfortably today without risking a historical artifact.
