This collection of United States military memorabilia documents the service of Lieutenant Junior Grade Carl Arthur Larsen, USNR, during World War II. The group includes three medals with their original packaging. The Air Medal is a complete cased set featuring the bronze star-shaped medal with a composite eagle, suspension ribbon, ribbon bar, and lapel pin, housed in a green pebbled leatherette presentation case. It is accompanied by its original white cardboard mailing box addressed to Lt. (jg) Carl A. Larsen at Bombing Squadron 136. Also included are the American Defense Service Medal and the American Campaign Medal, both in their original blue cardboard issue boxes with matching ribbon bars.The collection contains two US Navy Aviators Flight Log Books with orange and tan cloth covers. Volume one contains entries from June 1942 while Larsen served with Patrol Squadron 41 (VP-41) flying PBY-5A Consolidated Catalina aircraft. Recorded missions include patrols and transport flights between Aleutian Island locations such as Dutch Harbor, Umnak, Chernofski, and Kuluk Bay. Volume two covers service from October 1943 with Bombing Squadron 136 (VB-136) flying PV-1 Lockheed Ventura patrol bombers. Entries detail missions near Pearl and Hermes Reef, with technical remarks regarding engine performance and mechanical issues.Four standard WWII US Navy pattern dog tags are present on two ball chains. The tags are stamped with the name Carl Arthur Larsen, service number 106036, USNR, religious preference P for Protestant, and blood type A. One tag includes the tetanus immunization date T9/41.
