A United States Navy APH-6 series Aviator Protective Helmet (APH) paired with an MS22001 oxygen mask and communications assembly, dating to the Vietnam War era. The fiberglass helmet shell is finished in a gold tone and features a custom reflective tape scheme consisting of orange and white radial stripes extending from the crown. The front of the helmet, positioned below a blue center-mounted visor lock, bears a black stenciled emblem of wings flanked by the letters N and Y. The interior of the white fiberglass shell contains two handwritten inscriptions in black permanent marker reading JONES and B.H. JONES. The helmet is equipped with a single dark-tinted retractable visor. The accompanying MS22001 oxygen mask is manufactured by Sierra Engineering Company, as indicated by the incised text on the circular front valve which reads MASK, OXYGEN, TYPE MS-22001, SIZE MEDIUM, BREATHING, SIERRA ENG. CO. The mask is constructed of olive green rubber and includes an integrated microphone and metal T-bayonet connectors. Attached to the mask is a corrugated green rubber oxygen hose featuring a metal disconnect fitting and integrated communication leads with a multi-pin plug. The interior features brown leather-covered foam padding and black earcup cushions.
