Lot 276:
Description
An Imperial Japanese Army Type 90 steel combat helmet, also known as a Tetsubo. The helmet features a characteristic sloping shell designed for shrapnel deflection. A fixed, raised metal five-pointed star insignia, representing the Imperial Japanese Army, is mounted on the front of the shell. The interior retains its original three-pad liner system, which consists of leather tongues attached to a heavy canvas or cloth backing. These pads are joined at the center with a drawstring. The liner is secured to the steel shell by metal rivets visible on the exterior. Traces of the original olive-drab paint are present beneath heavy surface oxidation. No arsenal marks, manufacturer stamps, or size indicators are visible on the interior rim or liner components.
