Description

This United States Marine Corps M1 steel combat helmet assembly includes a high-pressure liner and a first-pattern reversible camouflage cover. Front seem and Fixed bail. The steel pot features sewn-on OD#3 olive drab canvas chinstraps with early-style brass hardware. The interior high-pressure plastic liner bears a stamped manufacturer mark in the crown consisting of a stylized letter F enclosed in a shield with the number 36 to the left, identifying production by the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. The liner suspension is made of OD#3 cotton webbing secured by brass A-washers and includes an adjustable leather sweatband and a removable leather liner chinstrap. The helmet is fitted with a first-pattern reversible Frog Skin pattern canvas cover, currently oriented to show the green jungle side. This early-style cover is constructed without the reinforced buttonhole foliage slits found on later iterations.
