Description
This collection consists of three vintage American tobacco advertising packages from the early to mid-20th century. The group includes two Our Advertiser smoking tobacco pouches and one True Blue long cut tobacco package. The larger Our Advertiser pouch is constructed from muslin cloth with a black paper label featuring white text and a stylized RJR trade mark. It was manufactured by the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This pouch retains its original yellow drawstring and a partial green federal tax stamp across the top seal. The smaller Our Advertiser pouch is also made of cloth and is sealed in protective cellophane. This item was sold as a roll-your-own set and includes an OCB rolling paper booklet attached to the reverse side. A blue paper band wrapped around the pouch contains federal legal notices and the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company name. The True Blue long cut tobacco package features a blue paper wrapper. The front label shows a graphic of a bird holding a shield with stars and stripes and credits the Reid Tobacco Co. of Milton, Pennsylvania. The reverse side identifies the Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company of St. Louis, Missouri as the manufacturer and states the tobacco is for smoke or chew.
