Description

WWII Luftwaffe Brustfallschirm (Chest Parachute) Pack, Baumuster 30 II S 24 B, Geraet-Nr. 10-3 D-1, Anforderungszeichen Fl. 30210, Complete with Its Matching Numbered Fallschirm-Pruefschein Inspection Booklet This lot presents a well-preserved German Luftwaffe chest-type emergency parachute pack together with its original service inspection booklet, the two pieces tied by a matching Werk-Nr. 1060857 recorded both on the sewn cloth specification label inside the pack and on the printed Pruefschein itself. The pack is identified by type as a Brustfallschirm, Baumuster 30 II S 24 B, Geraet-Nr. 10-3 D-1, Anforderungszeichen Fl. 30210 – nomenclature consistent with wartime Luftwaffe procurement designations for chest-worn reserve parachutes. The Brustfallschirm was developed for aircrew whose duties or confined working positions made a bulky seat-type parachute impractical – bomber observers, radio operators, gunners, and reconnaissance or transport crew who required freedom of movement at their stations. Rather than being worn continuously, the pack was stowed within reach and clipped onto the wearer’s chest-mounted harness D-rings via snap hooks only in the event of an emergency bailout, the ripcord then deploying the canopy independent of the body harness. The Pruefschein documents a genuine working service history through the war’s final year: a unit inspection stamp bearing the Luftwaffe eagle-and-swastika device is dated 31 August 1944, while the facing packing log records inspections and repacking on 10 October, 14 November, and 19 December 1944, each countersigned by a Pruefer named Heinhauer and annotated with official acceptance signatures.
